On 24 January 2020 at the City Recital Hall, legendary songwriter and ‘voice of the Stolen Generations’ Archie Roach brought his life story to the stage in Tell Me Why, an evocative live concert celebrating his eponymous memoir and album of the same name.

Not many have lived as many lives as Archie Roach – from stolen child and teenage alcoholic to seeker, lover (with his life partner, the late Ruby Hunter), father, musical icon, social advocate and First Nations leader. His story is an extraordinary odyssey through love and heartbreak, family and community, survival and renewal – and a testament to the healing power of music.

Watch as Roach performs the soul-stirring Nopun Kurongk alongside his five-piece band, including award-winning jazz composer Paul Grabowsky, guest vocalists Emma Donovan and Sally Dastey and didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton.
