Art Gallery Road
The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000

Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of NSW is the leading museum of art in New South Wales and one of Australia's foremost cultural institutions. The Gallery showcases international and Australian art in one of the most beautiful art museums in the world and aims to be a place of experience and inspiration, through their collection, exhibitions, programs and research.

Tickets are not required for general entry and most displays and exhibitions (subject to any changes from NSW Government health guidelines). Visitors are required to provide their name and contact details on arrival at the Gallery, to support contact tracing in line with NSW Health rules and our COVID-Safe plan.

We are asking you to do the following:

  • Bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases (we won’t be accepting cash) and a water bottle (we’ve turned off the drinking fountains/bubblers).
  • Avoid bringing large bags (cloaking facilities are closed and you’ll have to carry any bag at your side or on your front).
  • Don’t visit in a large group, if you’re unwell or, if in the last 14 days, you have experienced cold or flu symptoms, returned from overseas or been the close contact of an identified COVID case.

When you are at the Gallery:

  • Follow any requests or instructions from our staff.
  • Use the hand-sanitiser provided on arrival and before entering a ticketed event in the theatre.
  • Cloak your umbrella yourself in the stands provided.
  • Keep at least 1.5 metres distance from others at all times, including while in queues.
  • Consider wearing a mask while in the Gallery.
  • Wait in a marked queue or go elsewhere if a particular space has too many people.
  • Allow less-mobile visitors to use elevators first, or consider using the stairs or escalators.

To see how we are working to keep you safe please visit their website.

All public areas inside the building can be accessed by ramps and lifts (as well as stairs and elevators).

A permanent access ramp provides an alternative to the external stairs at the main entrance to the Gallery.

A ramp is positioned on the inside stairs and a Gallery staff member is available for assistance if required. Another wheelchair-accessible access entrance/exit is provided at the rear of the Gallery. A limited number of wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available for use.

There are four dedicated accessible parking spaces: two at the front of the Gallery and two at the rear. Domain Car Park station has a lift and offers discounted parking to Gallery visitors Mon-Fri.
