First and foremost, this adaptation from French to English by director, choreographer, and movement director Matthew Barclay, performed by Helpmann and Green Room award winning soprano Lorina Gore and Music Director Francis Greep, is about performance and universal human experiences. We witness the pulse and pace of psychological disintegration from the perspective of an unnamed woman trapped in the afterlife of love. This version of The Human Voice is set in 1950s Sydney.

Matthew's credits include Choreographer, La Traviata, Opera Australia; Revival Director for Tosca Opera Australia; Madama Butterfly for Pittsburgh Opera and Opéra de Montréal; Carmen for the Taiwan Philharmonia; Don Giovanni for West Australian Opera.

Lorina is a Helpmann and Green Room award winning soprano whose credits include Queen of Night, Die Zauberflöte; Tytania, A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Marzelline, Fidelio for the State Opera of South Australia for which she received a Helpmann Award nomination. International performances include the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor for Iford Arts, Giulia (La Scala di Seta) for Independent Opera, and performances of Norina (Don Pasquale) and Violetta (La Traviata) for New Zealand Opera.

Francis has a 25-year career in opera and the Arts and is currently the General Manager and Associate Artistic Director of The Song Company, Australia's national professional classical vocal ensemble.
