By Oliver Twist | Jubilee Street Management

Jali: noun: a West African historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet, or musician.

Refusing to be defined by a turbulent past, comedian and performer Oliver Twist reflects on his time as a refugee while carefully unpacking his present-day experiences. Delicately-told and impossible to forget, his one-person show proves that exceptional storytelling and belly-aching laughter are powerful antidotes to trauma.

Moving from Rwanda to Brisbane in 2014, Oliver Twist is one of Australia’s most exciting young comedians. A RAW national finalist, he has opened for Wil Anderson and Becky Lucas and performed alongside the likes of Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish. A sharp-witted storyteller, Oliver Twist is fast becoming known as an electrifying on-of-a-kind young talent. Originally part of Griffin’s 2020 Season, Jali is a vibrant journey that patiently demonstrates there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Duration: 60 minutes

JALI has just been nominated for Best Independent Production at the Sydney Theatre Awards, with Oliver nominated for Best Newcomer. Don't miss this spectacular debut from this rising star.
